Ecotoxicological risk assessment of contaminated sites: Terrasys software

SANEXEN

Proponent:

Sanexen Environmental Services Inc.

Name of project:

Development of software for conducting ecotoxicological risk assessments of contaminated sites.

Summary description of project:

The objective of the project is to develop software that allows carrying out ecotoxicological risk assessments quickly, efficiently and scientifically. By making the analysis of ecotoxicological risks more concrete, easier to attain and more valid, this type of tool will become an important incentive for using a risk-based approach and also foster the redevelopment of contaminated sites.

The software produced integrates all the models required for conducting ecotoxicological risk assessments, including the concentration simulation models in the various environmental media, the exposure patterns for the different receptors, as well as the risk assessment models. In addition to allowing a deterministic estimate of the ecotoxicological risk, the software also allows integrating the bio-test results and weighing the different risk estimates according to the related uncertainty. It also includes the databases required for conducting the risk assessments.
