Terrapex has been providing environmental consulting services for over 12 years, and the principal of the company has been in the business for over 25 years. We understand that the success of any project begins with a full comprehension and understanding of a site and the environmental issues facing it. Once this is know, the next step is to determine the proper approach to addressing any environmental concerns, which may entail excavation and disposal of the contamination, in-situ treatment, natural attenuation or risk analysis. Terrapex is made up of scientists, engineers, specialized technicians, and hydrogeologists, all providing a service. As such we will not align ourselves with one technology for the remediation of contaminated sites. The best solution must be site specific and will depend on many factors both scientific and otherwise.

Terrapex is specialized in in-situ treatment of contaminated sites. That is to say that projects where excavation of the contaminated zone is either physically or financially prohibitive, Terrapex has the know-how and experience to decontaminate a site without excavating or disturbing the soils or surrounding buildings. There are various technologies available, they are cheaper than the excavation option, and allow the facility to go on operating without significant interruption, whether the site is residential or heavy industry. Typically our clients are petroleum companies, industrials, banks, and small and medium sized enterprises. We are known for our practical solutions.

In-situ treatment projects require interpolation and experience to determine what is and is not possible. Our approach includes a full site assessment, a preliminary evaluation of the options, either a laboratory study, pilot study or contaminant transport model simulation, to define the system design parameters; the most important aspect of the project. This work is followed by the permitting, implementation, operation and closure.

In order for Terrapex to be on the leading edge of in-situ environmental solutions, we are actively involved in various research projects such as :

• The anaerobic biological treatment of TCA in a bedrock aquifer using a carbon supplement.
• The desorption and recovery of TCE in a sandy aquifer.
• The pressure fracturing of a dense till to enhance permeability and nutrient distribution and thus biodegradation.

Project monitoring is followed systematically for the contaminant parameters of concern as well as for geochemical progress indicators. This information is inputted into a contaminant transport model and compared to initial projections to determine real time progress.
